about

Over the course of the first three months following the release of Foxtrot, approximately six different versions of Well That's Today were written. With various lyrics and melodies being carried from one version to the next, the final recording is the truest reflection of the idea the song was intended to convey: a sense of pride in the new directions that both my personal life and music have taken as of late. Written as a response to the newfound joys I've found in life, the song discusses themes of acceptance and progression.

As the first new music to be independently released following my debut EP, Well That's Today is a sample of the greater influence folk and Americana music have had on my recent songwriting and the new era of music for ghosts.

lyrics

It stopped raining a month ago
And the sun began to shine
Started raining a year ago
Now I want to make you mine
My friends all think I’m better off
Since the day I said goodbye
And the funny thing about it all
Is for once all of them are right

I’m not the same
You’ve gone insane
Didn’t I promise baby
One day I’d change
(Well that's today)

Hey now kid what are you scared about
Why don’t you tell her how you feel
But every time I hear the words slip out
It only makes them feel more real
I’m scared I’m saying them at the wrong time
As if it’s right out of the blue
But darling now if you can hear me right
I hope you change your point of view

I’m not the same
You’ve gone insane
Didn’t I promise baby
One day I’d change
(Well that's today)
